Widelode are an art collective working in the audio-visual, or AV, sphere. Based in Cardiff since 2003, they've made a credible name for themselves provideing music videos and onstage backdrops for a laundry list of bands, DJs and events, plus doing their own live AV sets from time to time. Gaze is their new monthly night (scheduled for the last Tuesday of each month); the Widelode crew promise the very best, oddest and most innovative in the realm of moving pictures: animation, music videos, video art, one of those aforementioned AV sets and a look at the best stuff to turn up on youTube. It's shown to you on a big screen and/or projector, and it's based in the garden at the back of Buffalo, at least while the weather's purty.
As an artist, I have worked with Widelode over the last three years
and drawn upon their extensive skills in a number of areas. They have
collaborated and assisted me with video and installation projects,
providing essential technical, editing and production expertise. They
have an excellent design track record, and I have used them to
produce and develop various promotional aspects of my work and they
are my first port of call for any kind of technical advice or
guidance on projects and new ideas.
As well as being a highly professional creative team that between
them offer a huge range of skills and capabilities, I’ve also found
the Widelode team to be very approachable and personable people, a
joy to work with, and committed – in my own experience – to always maximising the potential of my work.
In terms of their wide grasp and experience of arts and digital media
production and facilitation, they’d make a really vital and dynamic
contribution to any cultural project or centre, and I wholeheartedly
recommend their work, their attitude to their clients, and their creative ethos.
"BBC Wales enjoyed great service from widelode. They facilitated an evening screening for us fantastically. The event went incredibly smoothly and successfully, and the team were very attentive to our every request and made sure we had everything we needed - every detail was followed through. We will certainly be using them again and thoroughly recommend them."
"We initially got in touch with widelode after a call for film makers for our launch night at Chapter Arts centre in Cardiff. After a few discussions we decided to leave the whole visual aspect of the evening in their hands. They compiled our collection of local films along with showing some of their own work and also provided live visuals for our full band performance. The nights were a fantastic success and we are now looking forward to producing a DVD documenting the performance together."

"New to the post of S.U. President I found myself organising a freshers week at a contemporary art college full of hypnotists, magicians and comedians. I needed a bit of art, so in came the widelode guys who gave us a wonderful early evening show in the landscaped campus gardens. Their fog screen projection and intriguing films captured the minds of the new first years, thanks guys."

"It's a very hot gig. They just set people alight, and if you can
measure success in abandon, happiness and quite a lot of good sex, then you'd have to say they're a hit."

"I wanted to get some video produced to explain the difference between Go New and other local recruitment agencies I was put in touch with widelode through a contact in the industry and things have developed from there. We are now currently looking at ways to further develop the overall branding of Go New to really underline the differences, with display technologies, which should really push us out from the crowd.
