New Start Wales TV Ad

We embark on a bit of an all out marketing assault this Friday and Saturday (13th & 14th Nov) at the Cardiff International Arena, as we set up shop at New Start Wales. The exhibition is aimed at people who either have or are thinking of starting up their own business. Widelode offer a range of products to suit start ups from logo design to web design. If any of this is of interest – please come and find us at the stand C39. The event is open 10am-5pm Friday and 10am-4pm Saturday.

Go Dutch @ Creamfields 09

I’ve just finished playing about with the moog classic Popcorn. It’s not quite there – but sounding pretty meaty already. I’m getting hints of Add N to X – noisy fun none the less.

Big Little City Ident

Based on a logo design by Starving Artists we were asked to produce an animated ident for Dan Green’s “Big Little City” multimedia project. Born out of Dan’s Cardiff:Characters exhibition Big Little City aims to take the concept on the road, visiting cities around the world and meeting the people that make the city what it is.

Secret Carnival @ Blysh 09

Secret Carnival (formerly Secret Garden Soundsystem) have innovated, inspired and changed the face of going out forever – later this month they plan to take you backstage to the underground circus bars, boudoirs and sideshows. A colourful carnival of the night where you can get your palm read by a tarot reader, play a game of speed dating and hating, jump in the back of cini-cab-ago-go with Miss Poppy Corn, arm wrestle a gorilla and dance the night away to Balkan Gypsy DJs and the best bands on the festival circuit.

This promises to be a night of Circus, Performance, Dance, Games, and full blown festival fun with Widelode supplying a visual backdrop to the event and a jam-packed line up, this is not to be missed.

Another chilled out bit of electronica for you (I’ll have to get better at naming these, anyone would think I didn’t love them). Anyway, this one has been about for a while but still manages to hold my interest. I find I get very caught up in the minute details and manage to lose sight of the whole piece, and rather than being a bad thing, when I’ve finished with that small detail, the tune has become something I don’t entirely recognise. Which makes it more exciting to work on. For me anyway.

Got a really nice picture sent to me by Matt the Hat who’s been busying himself organising The Small Weekend which kicks off tomorrow.

The Save the Children charity shop on Albany Rd have taken my flyer artwork and used it as inspiration for their Small Weekend window display. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

Giant Haystacks (of work to get through)

We’ve been booked to play an AV(ish) set at the Globe in Hay next weekas part of the fringe for the literary festival. Cool huh?

As usual though, we’ve been so busy getting our beloved clients’ work out we’ve rather neglected the planning our set. BUT I’ve promised myself friday will be a breakthrough day for me. So far I’ve got Stranger Than Fiction to chop up – it’s a top film, quite writerly and there’s a pivotal song performance. Hopefully a recipe for success.

Any suggestions of films to mutilate are warmly welcomed.
